A letter to myself

Here is a compassionate letter I wrote to myself as part of my journey in learning to love who I am.

Dear Rosie,

I know that you are scared about what will happen in the future. It’s understandable that you feel that way; you graduate university next year, and many things remain uncertain. It will be the first time that you will not be in education, and your friends will be scattered across the country so you will be likely to get lonely.

Despite this, you must remember that you were also scared when you started university. You didn’t think that you were ready or that you would be able to make friends. Even though you felt that way then, look where you are now. You are in your third and final year, you’ve made many wonderful friends and unforgettable memories and I think you’ve done pretty well in your studies too. I am proud of how hard you’ve worked and how far you have come.

So far, every challenge life has thrown at you, you have been able to overcome it. Why is this new stage of your life any different? And despite possibly feeling like it sometimes, you wont be alone. You know that the friends you have, and your family, will always be there to support you no matter how far away they are.

You are brave, you have done well so far, you can take on this next chapter of your life too.
